Cogs can think.

I'm a mere, tiny, insignificant cog in a whole clockwork of stupidity.
The little cog that wanted to break free, I am.

Cats are dangerous...?

I don't give a fcuk. My cats are the best things that ever happened to me, and some pesky little 'infection' that isn't proven yet, as the article contains nothing about the research itself, the statistic side, etc. ain't gonna change that. In other words, a load of shit.

I personally love all animals, especially the furry ones (not a big fan of snakes).

But coming from the hot climate in Greece I am used to never keep cats and dogs inside the house. They are always outside, living their lives free (especially cats).

Their fur is potentially dangerous for little kids or pregnant women, and now this study shows that others can be too.

You might think I am shitting you, but that's how my uncle died when he was 5: he was playing with the cats all day, he caught something from them, and he died a few months later in the hospital. My mother hated all animals after that happened. She can't stand touching any of them.

I on the other hand I love animals (sheep are my favorite :), but again, I am used to never keep them inside the house.

Depends on how you look at it. The fact that those cats were outside all the time might actually have caused them to carry that disease/infection/bacteria in the first place. Chicken or the egg problem.

There are just a few things to consider with pets. Don't stay in too close contact for too long. Don't let them sleep *in* the bed, only *on* the bed. Feed your cats fresh water every day. Don't let them eat "soft" catfood, only the harder stuff. Don't keep them inside all day. On the other hand; don't keep them outside all day and then inside for a few minutes and play with them (as they aren't clean then).

In the end you can't ban pet -> human infections, but hey, you're far more likely to get an infection from an insect or another human being.

I still remember one of my cats giving birth underneath my bed (about 10 years ago). We had the door of my bedroom open to let the room get some sunshine in the morning, and the cat got in, and gave birth under my bed. My mother had to clean up the blood and stuff, it wasn't pretty. ;)
